On Saturday night, we went to Dances of Vice’s Halloween event, PhantasmaGOREY! The theme was Edward Gorey, the Gothic American illustrator, and the place was full of droopy, weeping dark damsels in mourning gowns. I always go for the live music – a swing band, with a musical saw for that Twilight Zone atmosphere. Dances of Vice as usual put on a beautiful fashion show (this time from PureVile) and several dance and burlesque acts. There was also a conga line… A very unusual Halloween!

I am so pleased with my new kitty headband! You might remember this style – I spotlighted them recently. I ordered a pearl version on eBay, but when I saw this in stores I bought this crystal & ribbon version too. It’s a really cute, simply look, and I like it much more than the fluffy fabric kind of cat ears. And yes, I wore them to class, and the world did not end. Fashion achievement unlocked!

My makeup was inspired by Marina‘s in the music video Primadonna Girl, one of her three songs I am hooked on right now (Bubblegum Bitch and How To Be a Heartbreaker being the other two). I watched a few Youtube tutorials, and this is what I took away from theirs. Mostly giant lashes and a heart beauty mark. I would love to do her crazy lower lashes in the future.

I also tinted my eyebrows pink for the first time. With this method, I used a little of Urban Decay’s eyeshadow primer brushed on my brows, then gently patted blush into them. They were a pretty cute look, but they made my brows a bit dark – I might try a different method next time.

Making ‘devil horn’ fingers, not kitty pose here! I wanted to be creepier than a typical cat pose ;P I just got my hair highlighted pink, and these are the results! It’s cute, but I still miss my whole-head style… Hopefully I’ll be back to my usual pink self soon.

On another note, updates may not be on schedule this week due to the impending storm, Hurricane Sandy, also called ‘Frankenstorm’. We may lose power for an unspecified time period. I am praying for everyone to get through this safely, especially my friends living in New York City – if your area is being evacuated, go. Don’t make me come get your butt with a hatchet, as Bloomberg has threatened.
